In recent years, immigrant women have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic, resulting in significant job losses and persisting obstacles to workforce entry and advancement. Meanwhile, the private sector, especially in high-growth industries, has been actively seeking skilled workers to fill various positions while striving to cultivate a more diverse and inclusive workforce.
Here at New Women New Yorkers, we’ve risen to meet these challenges head-on. Our workforce development programs are meticulously designed to break down the barriers that immigrant women face in their employment journeys.
We utilize a three-pronged strategy to empower our participants:
- Language Proficiency: We emphasize English language practice in the context of professional goals.
- Skill Acquisition: We provide opportunities to acquire job skills that are prerequisites to achieving professional aspirations.
- Cultural Understanding: We guide immigrant women in navigating US workplace culture and understanding the role of their unique cultural perspectives.
Our programs don’t just equip immigrant women with confidence and essential skills to reach their professional ambitions; they also foster a robust professional network and supportive community. The results speak volumes. The women we serve are achieving greater success in securing phone screenings, job interviews, job offers, and admissions into higher education and vocational trainings.
