Our new cohort of LEAD participants from the NYPL Mid-Manhattan branch

And We’re Off! Launching the Fall LEAD Series

The fall series of NWNY’s flagship LEAD program began in late September at the Chatham Square and Mid-Manhattan libraries. This season, we have the pleasure of working with a cohort of twenty-six young immigrant women from 20 different countries! In addition to facilitating workforce development, LEAD also aims to build a community of support. Our two groups of women already seem well on their way to becoming good friends!

Our Recent Mock Interview and Career Counseling Session with the Rockefeller Foundation

On September 8, our partners at the Rockefeller Foundation hosted eleven LEAD graduates for a Mock Interview and Career Counseling Session, where the women received one-on-one coaching. This important session strengthened the women’s interviewing skills and gave them an opportunity to connect with experienced professionals.

In addition to participating in the skills-building exercises, the Rockefeller Foundation also made a generous financial contribution to New Women New Yorkers. Their gift will help ensure the continuation of such important programs that support the workforce development of young immigrant women in New York City. We thank the Rockefeller Foundation for their support!
