Program Associate (part-time)

We are seeking an experienced part-time Program Associate to lead and coordinate our workforce development and community building programs.

An ideal candidate will have previous experience working in programming in the nonprofit sector, possess strong organizational and communication skills, and have the ability to work independently and to manage a team.

 

Key duties & responsibilities

The Program Associate will be responsible for leading and coordinating LEAD, NWNY’s flagship workforce development program, and Meetups.

Key duties will include:

  • Recruiting, training, and managing all volunteers for the LEAD program and Meetups;
  • Reviewing and developing curriculum of LEAD program and Meetups;
  • Facilitating test runs and workshops as needed;
  • Coordinating all LEAD program series and Meetups with host organizations and ensuring smooth communication with participants and volunteers;
  • Monitoring progress and performance of LEAD program and Meetups;
  • Supporting the CEO in raising sufficient financial resources to fund the LEAD program and Meetups, including through grant writing, event planning, and crowdfunding.

 

Requirements & desired skills and experience

  • Previous experience in nonprofit sector and Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, an eye for detail along with critical thinking, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience developing curriculum and facilitating workshops for non-native English speakers is strongly preferred.
  • High level of professionalism at all times, and energy and passion for NWNY’s mission and goals are essential.
  • Patience, flexibility, enthusiasm, and a good sense of humor.

 

Terms and conditions

The Program Associate will work 14 hours per week, on an initial contract of 3 months. S/he will report to, and work closely with, New Women New Yorkers’ Chief Executive Officer.

A required 7 hours of work per week will take place at New Women New Yorkers’ office at the Centre for Social Innovation in Chelsea, with the rest of the work carried out at program locations and remotely.

At the end of the 3-month contract, achievements will be reviewed with the possibility of extension if the approach has been successful and sustainable.
