Latest news: Immigrant Women Command the Stage and Share Their Lives at “Stories That Move Us” Fundraiser

On July 25, 2017, New Women New Yorkers was joined by close to 100 guests at LMHQ in downtown Manhattan for its live storytelling fundraiser. In addition to food by Eat Offbeat, desserts by Insomnia Cookies, an open bar, and a silent auction, guests were treated to the masterful relaying of the real experiences of immigrant women. Featuring the voices of eight women who graduated from NWNY’s first storytelling program with The Moth, the event created an opportunity for people to connect with these “Stories That Move Us” and stand in the shoes of resilient women who overcome great obstacles to make New York City their new home.

Behind the scenes of Real People. Real Lives. Immigrant Women of New York

Last month we started working on the 2nd part of our photography and storytelling project, Real People. Real Lives. Women Immigrants of New York. The project will feature art and fashion photographs of 16 immigrant women in several iconic NYC spots, alongside audio recordings of their stories. We are looking to show this exhibit for several weeks this fall. This multi-media experience which blends photography, audio, and storytelling will give a broad audience of New Yorkers, immigrants and non-immigrants alike, a chance to dive into the universes – the fears, hopes, and dreams – of several immigrant women.

Can you connect us to a venue or gallery to host our exhibit?
