VOLUNTEER

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with New Women New Yorkers!

Volunteers participate in all key programs and activities of the organization, and are an integral part of New Women New Yorkers’ cross-community vision and of its career-mentoring model. Thanks to our volunteers, we have increased capacity to accomplish our mission and to meet critical needs of immigrant women and their families.

As of Spring 2024, we have a team of over 30 regular volunteers, and more than 200 additional volunteers through partnership with corporations. Read the bios here of our Program Team volunteers, including workshop facilitators, resume builders, and career counselors.

Who can volunteer?

We’re looking for self-motivated and reliable individuals, with a positive and flexible attitude! To best support our community members and programs, we are seeking volunteers who:

  • Demonstrate fluency in more than one language – Spanish in particular is a plus to help support our multilingual programming;
  • Professionals who work in high-growth industries, with a particular interest for those with experience in the clean energy industry;
  • Individuals who are passionate about empowering women and immigrants;
  • Live  in New York City (or nearby).

All volunteers must be over 18 years old. Please read below for more information on our current volunteer opportunities.

What are the benefits of volunteering with New Women New Yorkers?

By joining our team, you will have the opportunity to gain practical skills and experience, connect with other professionals from various backgrounds, and participate in the growth of a dynamic nonprofit organization.

Most importantly: Giving your time to NWNY creates positive change and impact for the immigrant women we serve.

Where does volunteer work take place, and what is the time commitment?

Volunteers will work at one or more locations where we offer our programs, or remotely, depending on the position.

All volunteers are required to attend training sessions on a yearly or biannual basis.

Volunteers are also invited to attend New Women New Yorkers’ monthly community programming as well as occasional events and workshops.
