Employment panel with AWARE @ Bank Leumi

Last month, our generous partners at AWARE organized an incredible panel presentation at Bank Leumi for our LEAD participants and graduates, with HR executives and attorneys. We talked about US employment contracts and benefits, salary negotiation, and sexual harassment. Needless to say, our participants took full advantage of the opportunity to ask questions and use the expertise of the panelists to navigate these complex topics.

Mock interview session at UN Foundation

LEAD participants and graduates had an opportunity to flex their interviewing and networking skills at a mock interview session at the UN Foundation at the end of March. “Inspired”, “confident”, “less daunting” – these are some of the words our participants shared at the end of the session.

Other news, in brief:

  • NWNY launched its two Spring LEAD for New Moms programs at the end of April – one in the Soundview neighborhood of the Bronx, and one in Washington Heights in Manhattan.
  • NWNY is joining the Best for NYC campaign, offering participating businesses with diverse and skilled job candidates, and an employee engagement program – Stay tuned for more information!
  • NWNY completed its Service Enterprise Initiative (SEI) training through the New York Immigration Coalition and will now be seeking service enterprise certification. SEI is a national initiative led by Points of Light that strengthens the capacity of nonprofits to fundamentally leverage volunteers and their skills to address community needs.
